2009 League Averages

There was good representation of the club in the averages. In Division 5 Graham Hoar, Clive Collins, Navaid Akhtar and Matthew Heavey all made the batting shortlist and for the bowling, Navaid Akhtar, Matt Holland & Harshad Patel all made the list. Navaid showed in first season with the club just what an asset he can be taking 38 wickets and scoring 400+ runs, and fellow new boy Matt Holland also made the list with 31 wickets for the season at 18.23 a piece, including the 3rd best figures in the division of 8-36.

In Division 10, Andy Vernon capped off a fine season making the batting list scoring 400+ runs with an average of 42 including his maiden ton, 112 not out in the final game of the season. In the bowling, Pete Mackay rolled back the years to take 32 wickets at 13.94 and in his comeback season, Farakh Raz showed just how useful he can be with 26 wickets @ 16.35.

For the 3rd XI in Division 13, Deshal De Silva showed why we’d like to see him playing more, as he scored 200+ runs with a best of 93. Also making the batting list were John Willoughby and Alex Herbert, who scored over 370 & 200 runs respectively, but in one of the highlights of the season, this pair shared an opening stand of 163 against Wormley, with John finishing unbeaten on 107 and Alex Herbert completing his maiden league 50, with a score of 69. In the bowling, Steve Moss everything his captain would of wanted, he kept the score down with a season economy rate of  2.7, but also had that cutting edge taking 32 wickets @ 12.03 with season best figures of 6-33.
