Fantasy League Update!

The fantasy league is in full swing with 19 teams after the first 3 weeks with the top & bottom of the table being dominated by inter-family competition. At the top we have John WIlloughby (1- 1066) and Daniel Willoughby (2- 88) battling for early season leadership. At the foot of the table, we have fraternal affair with the Heavey brothers fighting for the wooden spoon, I for one hope the battle moves further up the table given my current basement residence.

We have decided to extend registration to this Friday, 21st May in order to break the 20 team barrier. So if you haven’t already – and why haven’t you! head over to the registration page and enter a team.

Fantasy League Underway!

The Old Elizabethan’s Fantasy League got under way this weekend with 17 teams having already entered. It was a fast start for Daniel Willoughby who leads the way on 343, over 100 points from Macca in second with 234.

Fantasy League Table

One quick note – the 2nd XI’s scorecard hasn’t been entered on the Play Cricket Website so points for those players who played on Saturday are not included.

There is still time to enter with registration ending this weekend, you can register here.

Good luck to all those who’ve entered.

Fantasy Cricket

I’m sure you’ve all heard of fantasy football or fantasy cricket and also sure that a lot of you will have played these with the likes of  The Telegraph, Sky Sports and so on.

This year were going to try and introduce a little extra edge to everyone’s league performances with our own fantasy league.

So the idea is this, we run a fantasy league using Old Elizabethans players to form the fantasy teams. The games players will score points for are the league games and the points system will be as follows:

  • 1 Run = 1 Point
  • 1 Wicket = 10 points
  • 1 Catch = 5 points
  • 1 Stumping = 10 Points

You will also pick a Captain who will score double points.

You will also need to pick a “formation” which will be one of the following:

  • 5 Batsmen
  • 1 Wicket Keeper
  • 1 All-Rounder
  • 4 Bowlers

or:

  • 5 Batsmen
  • 1 Wicket Keeper
  • 5 Bowlers

or:

  • 6 Batsmen
  • 1 Wicket Keeper
  • 4 Bowlers

I’ve made the ratings for the players and they are based on the points system above with the league games from last year.

Leave a comment below giving your feedback on this idea, I thought we could charge a small entrance fee of £5 per team with all money going towards a prize fund. So if we have 20 teams, the prize fund will be £100 with the prizes being 1st £50, 2nd £30 & 3rd £20.

I’ll post the rules and a page for registration of your teams on the site next week.
