U15As prevail in short campaign

The only people miffed with this result were some parents who had to drop everything an hour early to come and retrieve their boys. Actually, to be fair, the Totteridge players were also a little miffed.

It was a hot day with a clear sky. The pitch looked worn and dusty. This was a day for the winner of the toss to put the opposition in to bat. Captain George duly lost the toss, but inexplicably Totteridge chose to bat. Talk about winning the popular vote but losing your majority!

OEs bowlers struggled a bit with the slope on the ground and ended up giving away far too many wides. But that aside, this was strong and stable performance in the field by the OEs XI. Catches were held. Boundaries were stopped. When they weren't bowling wides, the bowlers were to be found knocking out the stumps. Adam finished finished with some excellent figures (4-1-9-3) as did Zac (4-0-12-3). Ben, George, Ewan and Eddie all joined in the fun and helped to bowl Totteridge out for 79. The teamwork among the U15As this season has been a joy to watch, and with Ishan leading the shouts of encouragement, it usually feels like there is a twelfth man on the field.

At the break the batting order was shuffled a bit, but it was academic. Openers James and Henry set out their manifesto quite clearly in the first over, nabbing nine runs. It was clear that when it came to scoring runs, these two were for the many, not the few. James in particular was having fun, hitting nine fours and a couple of sixes on his way to 60*. That nice shiny car parked just beyond the long on boundary was too tempting a target.

In the end, the result came in just before noon, after only 7.2 overs. No recounts needed here, with the only hiccup being the loss of Henry's wicket in the sixth over.
