All you need to know for the season ahead!

Hi everyone and welcome to OEs for another summer of cricket – our biggest yet!
After our Cricketforce event this coming weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun), our ground will be ready for the season ahead. Details of our programme are as follows:

MATCHES
Competitive matches are played either at 6pm on weekday evenings or 10am on Sunday mornings. Please arrive 30 minutes before the start to warm up, all games are in the T20 format and last 2 – 2½ hours. Matches start from 24th April, you should now update your child’s availability for matches on Pitchero; it is VERY important that you revisit and update this regularly as it is the only resource that the team managers use. You will be informed if your child is selected and you must accept or decline as soon as possible. Players available but then declining opportunities to play will be noted, as this lets the team down and makes life very difficult for the managers (who are volunteers don’t forget). We encourage players to play up an age group so you your child may be selected for older matches if you have made them available to play. Whatsapp groups will be set up for U11, U13 and 15 parents, where they can share advice and arrange things like car sharing etc.

TRAINING
Club training nights are Fridays, 6.30 – 8.00pm, boys and girls are welcome and they are divided into groups based mainly on age but also ability. We encourage all parents to stay and watch the sessions, the bar is always open and on a warm sunny evening there is no nicer place to be!
We run a separate training session for our girls section on Tuesdays, 5.30 – 6.30pm, just before our Senior Gunns women train – any girls old enough and confident enough are encouraged to stay and train with the grown ups and mums also join in too!

NETS
Use of the nets is free to all paid up members if the ground is open, however you must concede to ANY organised training taking place (either a 1 – 1 session in one lane or even if all 4 lanes are in use). ALL juniors under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult if coaches or senior players are not present for safe guarding regulations. If the club is closed and the car park gates are LOCKED, the nets are not available to use. Anyone who uses the nets during these times will have their membership reviewed.

Finally, men’s and women’s senior matches are played on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, do come along to support them, it’s a great way to spend a weekend afternoon!

All fixtures and other details are on our website/Pitchero so check in regularly for all the latest info!
