On an overcast day at Gypsy Corner there was little surprise when Langlebury skipper Channer won the toss and elected to bowl. There were 4 changes again from last weeks victory against West Herts with S.Ali, Michelin and Gengan returning to the side as well as 1st XI stalwart Mr Dominic Goring making his first appearance of the season, accompanied with his merry marching band of supporters.
With 2 of Langlebury's players unable to take the field for the first 8 overs due to traffic and kit problems, Steele (55) and Shah (20) cashed in during the favourable conditions to bring the 50 up within the first 6 overs. The introduction of Carter (3-34) spun the game back into the balance, tearing through the top 3 with his flight and guile, leaving OE's 107-3. Hussain (41) and Gomes (40) rebuilt superbly and assaulted an attack of their own after another platform was set. With Langlebury on the backfoot, messers Goring (61 off 35), Busby (47*) and Patel (23*) bludgeoned 121 off the final 12 overs to impose a superb total of 321-7 off their 50.
In pursuit, the chase never really threatened, Khan (1-21) set us off in the right direction yet again with the ball with Gengan (2-30), Patel (2-17) and Busby (1-16) never really letting off. The star with the ball however was Shaun Gomes (4-36), in his first bowl of the season after recovering from a severe case of the shin splits, tore through the Langlebury middle order.
Player of the Match: This performance alongside his 40 with the bat earned Shaun MOTM, it was brilliant for the neutral seeing his free flowing strokeplay accompanied by a superb spell of bowling, seeing his hard work with Jay in the off season finally prevailing. Onto Radlett away next week to continue our 100% record
