After being put into bat Langleybury got off to a fast start with some aggressive batting and good luck with edges evading the slip cordon. Qasim Ahmed (1-23) picked up the first wicket with Skipper Luke Sicheri-Peel (1-49) getting in on the act getting the wicket of the other opener. a good partnership of 103 for the 3rd wicket put Langleybury in a good position at 132-3 but the introduction of Ben Clarke (4-42) and Kulathumani Hariharan (2-14) made the difference. Adam Hall also getting in on the 1-34. Langleybury losing 7 wickets for 70 runs to leave them with 201–9 (50). An innings of two halves set the 2s a target of 202.
Paul Lissowski and Eddie Hildebrand opened up looking to get the team off to a good start and that is just what they did. Both capitalising on the bad balls and showing grit to see off the good ones. The scoreboard was never still with both batters rotating the strike with ease. An opening stand of 177 was brought to an end when Hildebrand held out for 56. The more aggressive Lissowski falling just after for 92 off 95 with 13 boundaries, deserved his ton. Sean Price (5*) and Henry Jonscher (18*) made sure there was no collapse and saw the team home in the 34th over.
An incredible 8 wicket win was exactly the bounce back the team needed with the 2s sat on 75 points from the first 3 games.
Player of the Match: Tough decision today with Ben Clarke making the difference with the ball (4-42) and Paul Lissowski 92(95). Both big jug avoidances but they share the MOTM award. Well played fellas.
