With Mays Lane hosting the Solstice the 2s hosted Cheshunt Rosedale at Hitchin School hoping to keep the winning run going. Another hot day, another short boundary and another quick outfield the 2s won the toss and chose to bat.
At 74-0 off 11 overs a big score looked on the cards with openers Suhas Parsaboina and Paul Lissowski going well. But three wickets in four balls sent Parsaboina (20), Sean Price (0) and then the Lissowski (46) on their way. A rebuild was needed. Henry Jonscher and James Michelin started this rebuild by soaking up the pressure and applying some of their own with great running between the wickets and boundary hitting. Michelin falling for 19 caught behind. This brought Ishtarth Kategari to the crease who got into his work quickly. All seemed to be going well until Jonscher in usual Jonscher style took a risky single and was sent on his way by a smart direct hit by Luke Morris for 35. A flurry of wickets saw OEs slump from 164-5 to 188-9 with Kategari falling for a well made 36. A last wicket stand of 34 strangled some momentum to take into the bowling innings with Kulathumani Hariharan (19*) and Adam Hall (15) taking the 2s to a par total of 222 (49).
A quick start with the ball was needed to put the pressure on a cheshunt and skipper Luke Sicheri-peel provided it picking up an early wicket. Some counterattacking batting from the Cheshunt top order was brought to a close with Sicheri-Peel picking up his 2nd wicket in his opening and only spell finishing with 2-18(7). Adam Hall (1-25) scalped the 3rd wicket of the innings before the introduction of the spin twins Kulathumani Hariharan and Paul Lissowski.
Lissowski (2-41) removing the settled (and dangerous) Hazel with Sean Price taking a nerve wracking high catch. Lissowski also getting a caught and bowled to prove he can field well as well. Hariharan continued the trend of causing issues to every batsmen he’s bowled to this year with two clean bowled through the gates split only by a wicket for the retuning Zac Scott (1-29). Hariharan getting his 3rd with an LBW and then the final wicket of the match with an incredible one handed catch by Lissowski. Hariharan finishing with another 4fer (4-27) as Cheshunt Rosedale bowled out for 145.
A comprehensive win for the 2s with MOTM going to Kulathumani Hariharan for his exploits with the bat (19*) but more importantly his second 4fer in a row with 4-27 to cap off a fantastic all round display. Keep them coming please Mani.
